Analyzing the Benchmark
The NIFTY 50 is the benchmark index of the National Stock Exchange and the most actively traded derivative instrument in India. Because of its massive liquidity, the NIFTY respects structural market data—like Open Interest and FII flows—more cleanly than individual, lower-liquidity equities.
StocksClue provides dedicated tools to dissect NIFTY price action through the lens of derivative participation.
NIFTY Option Chain Dynamics
When analyzing the NIFTY option chain:
- Major Expiry Levels: Look for strike prices with the highest combined OI, as these frequently act as magnetic levels or hard boundaries for the weekly expiry.
- Straddle/Strangle Positioning: Heavy OI build-up on both the Call and Put side at the same strike often indicates that institutions are expecting the index to remain range-bound near that level.
